Being a student from a tier 3 college, I always wanted opportunities to learn more. I found out about the women who code mentorship program from a YouTuber and being one of the 50 mentees that got selected for this program felt extremely good.

As week 1 of our mentorship started, I along with 2 other mentees had a group call with our mentor Himanshi Goyal ma’am who had been a part of the Microsoft Codess chapter 2020. Himanshi ma’am started by getting to know where our interests lie and what we are into. According to our interests, she asked us to do challenges on Leetcode. She also asked us to apply to GSSoC(GirlScript Summer of Code) so that we can get started with open source development.

She was extremely friendly and answered every one of our questions. She was very welcoming and she urged us to ask more doubts. She also asked us to try developing a game. She told us the importance of participating in Google kickstart.

Not only did I learn a lot from Himanshi ma’am, but I also learnt a lot from my fellow mentees. We had a group call and we discussed new opportunities and our interests. This was a week of total productivity and I am looking forward to the rest of the 4 weeks of my mentorship.
